“Amp Things Up!” with us at our final American Red Cross Blood Drive for the year,
held in honor of the Wounded Warrior Project.
On the fourteenth anniversary of the September 11 th attacks, it seems fitting that we’d release a special callout to Veterans, and anyone who believes in the honorable work of service members, to participate in our final American Red Cross blood drive for the year. Set for Thursday, September 24 th (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.) this will not be any ordinary blood drive. For the first time, Jack Howk℠/Rescue Rooter® will hold this special blood drive in honor of an organization that is very dear to our hearts — the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP).
The Veterans that we currently employ at Jack Howk/Rescue Rooter are a driving force behind our motivation to support WWP, a nonprofit organization that works on a national basis to honor and empower injured service members across the nation.
Our involvement with WWP goes back to this summer when we were busy with another type of drive. Our first-ever food drive for the Sunshine Division, a nonprofit food bank that works in partnership with the Portland Police Bureau to feed hungry Portlanders. To “amp things up,” we created a friendly competition by dividing our workforce into teams that competed to collect the most food for the Sunshine Division. The incentive to win was that Jack Howk/Rescue Rooter would donate $1,000 to a charity that the winning team selected.
The team that won the challenge had chosen the WWP as its charity before the food drive even began. We don’t consider it a coincidence that the WWP team won. Possibly the idea that we could help a Veteran who has been adversely impacted by serving our country had a little something to do with this team’s motivation. In fact, at the end of the food drive, we were so “amped up” we decided to increase the donation amount to $5,000 for WWP.
We are extremely excited to welcome an executive from the WWP Seattle office who is making a special appearance during our September 24th blood drive. Not only will he accept the donation, he will sit down with our team to explore additional ways Jack Howk/Rescue Rooter can assist in their mission.
Please help us in our quest to end a yearlong blood donation effort for the Red Cross on a successful note and welcome WWP with us at the same time! We want to make a huge showing on this last blood drive and raise an honorable amount of blood for the Red Cross.
A complimentary brunch will be given to all blood drive participants (available between 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and a licensed and insured massage therapist will be on-site offering chair massages for a minimal fee of 15 minutes for $10 (available between 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.).
But we can’t do it without you! Please call Joyce Dennis directly at 503-850-3122 or email:firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to donate blood or book a massage. We know our fellow Veterans and their supporters will gladly stand next to us for this venerable cause!
